Auto openers

Auto Openers

Whether it’s a canopy door, slide away door or a sectional door, there’s a huge range of over head mechanical doors openers, choosing the right one for your door and also your budget can be daunting, which is why we’ve taken the hard work out of it.

We currently offer three different auto openers, a budget opener mid range and a high end opener, all three openers are capable of lifting a double door, but there are very distinct variances in reliability, and quality of the products, we offer guarantees with all them, ranging from 2 years to 5 years

Automating canopy doors

When considering to automate a canopy door, please bare in mind that this door is the most difficult to automate, as fitted to rear of the door you need an additional mechanical device called a bow arm, because of the way the door is designed to lift, with this the auto opener simply wouldn’t lift your door high enough for you drive you car under, whilst the bow arm is necessary on these doors, it does have a draw back, that being it will reduce you overall opening height by around 6 inches or 15cm, so if you door is only a short door in the first place then this may not be a practical option. You may wish to consider replacing your door for either a slide away, sectional or roller door, please ask for advice from your engineer.

Automating a slide away door.

From the front these doors look identical to a canopy door and indeed they are, the only difference is the way the door is designed to be lifted. With these doors. It is a spring system mounted near the floor, and a tracked system mounted towards to top of the door inside the garage. ( please refer to diagram in garage door section ) Automating these doors is much easier, as you will not require any additional equipment other than the auto opener. Once installed you can enjoy peace of mind safe operation of your door via your wireless remote.

Automating a sectional door

This is much the same as a slide away door,

Roller doors

These are slightly different as there are 2 elements to consider with these, and most roller doors come with automation as standard, there is a long tube motor mounted in the tube at the top of the door, and then there is the control panel which is usually mounted on the wall near the door, there are options with these control units, as far as extra saftey or having an onboard light or having the option to use your phone to open the door, yes that’s right you could turn your door into “ smart “ door.

What about loss of power ?

In the event of a power cut, there are ways to open the garage door, if you have rear access to your garage, you will still be able to open your door manually from the inside, our installers will always show you how this is done, and once they have explained will get you to have a go, so if there are problems they can fix it onsite before they leave,

If you have no rear access to your garage you will need an extra piece of equipment called an emr, ( emergency manual realease ). Don’t worry these are safe and secure until you need them, no one else will be able to use it, only you. And again our installers will show you exactly how to use them and make sure you are happy and confident with what you have been shown.
